Under vacuum, food has been proven to stay fresh and full of flavor up to 5 times longer. This is significantly longer than simply storing in an airtight container. Especially if the jar is opened frequently, the effect of airtight storage is minimal.

Weck jars are also often used for fermentation and infusion. For example when making Kimchi or Kombucha (fermented tea). Both infusion and fermentation go faster and are better with a vacuum.

Thanks to the vacuum, you infuse in minutes, instead of hours or days. Fermentation only gets a start in a low oxygen environment, so vacuum is the ideal start for it. Pickling, also known as weckning, can of course also be done easily with the Airtender vacuum lid. After opening, the vacuum lid will also keep the contents fresh longer!
