Mon Amie is a shining example of a true Rörstrand classic. At first 22-year-old Marianne Westman was reluctant to embark on a design career with Rörstrand. Her dream had always been to have her own ceramics workshop in her home town of Falun. But her sketch of a flower – transformed into the decoration for Mon Amie, her debut and her masterpiece – heralded the shift to the new, brighter everyday life that people yearned for in the 1950s. Marianne was often quick to identify new trends and production methods. Her distinctive, light-hearted designs for household items in the 1950s and 1960s have earned her a lasting place in Swedish design history.
In 1726, they started making porcelain at Rörstrand's Palace in Stockholm under the direction of German porcelain maker Johann Wolff. Rörstrand is thus the second oldest porcelain brand in Europe (after Meissen, 1709).View all products from Rörstrand
